• Shirley Wilkinson, former university student: “I studied voice under Dr. Burdick for nearly three years at Central Michigan University. She taught me proper, healthy vocal technique and encouraged me to be the best that I could be. I was always free to express myself and experiment creatively in her studio. I now have my own students and I pass her solid teachings on to them. She taught me life lessons that I carry into other areas of my life as well. She is an excellent woman and an excellent teacher.”

I studied with her for four years at Alma College and she helped my voice grow immensely in the time I studied with her. She not only helped me capitalize on my abilities as a classical singer but she also inspired me to continue my studies in music and pursue a career as a professional opera singer. By the time I graduated she became more than just a teacher, she is a dear friend and trusted mentor to me as well!”

• Tammy Wilson, parent of two young students: “Barbara is an exceptional teacher! My children studied voice with her for more than 5 years and blossomed under her guidance. Barbara tailored each lesson to what was needed at the time: preparing for an audition, practicing for a show or working on new skills. She expertly guided them to explore their vocal capabilities as they broadened their ranges and fine-tuned their techniques. Barbara is extremely encouraging, patient and compassionate with singers at any level, and my children experienced significant improvement in their vocal techniques and abilities. Overall, Barbara is not only a talented vocal teacher, but a wonderful caring person. I’m so glad we found her!”

My daughter Grace studied with Barbara for six years. Barbara is phenomenal with young singers. She helps to foster confidence and poise, while developing their skills as vocal musicians. Under Barbara's tutelage, Grace was cast in numerous musical theatre productions, including several leading roles. She was also accepted to many audition only camps and workshops, including some in New York and Boston where she learned from Broadway professionals. Barbara genuinely cares about the young artists she works with and helps to establish a foundation that they can use in years to come.
